Virtual worlds are synchronous, persistent representations of worlds inhabited by people represented by ‘avatars’ and created within computers. They provide opportunities for distance learning and asynchronous learning, learning through activities and learning that transcends the classroom.

Through the use of simulations and recreations of places and events that are impossible to bring into the classroom or to readily allow students to experience virtual worlds can allow students to visualise tasks and to interact with an environment that reinforces or introduces learning aims in innovative, complex ways.

We can create engaging and innovative classroom experiences that provide new ways for students to learn using low cost platforms such as Minecraft or Second Life.
